If only this tree could talk

Saw this tree while hiking with Sandee and just had to sketch it.

I loved visiting this amazing cathedral in Paramaribo, Suriname. It's the world's largest wooden cathedral. It was beautifully remodeled with funds from the EU. 

 This is what the cathedral looked like prior to the renovations. 

Sketching in Manitou Springs, CO

A beautiful day in Manitou Springs, CO. I was able to find a few moments to unstring the bow and sketch this monument to Mr. Wheeler.

CS Philharmonic Free Concert and Fireworks

Sketching/watercolor from Bogota Colombia

I enjoyed sketching this cathedral on a sunny Saturday in Bogota. I applied the watercolor after I got home.

Street Musicians in Bogota, Colombia

I saw these street Musicians in the Usaquen section of Bogota Colombia. These guys were great. They were fun to sketch on the flight home. I'm experimenting with colored pencils. I wanted these colors to give a sense of action and sound.

Watercolor added to the Basel Cathedral

I wanted to add some watercolor to this sketch - see the previous version below. I think it helps to give the sketch some character and feeling. 

Sketching in Ankara Turkey

I loved this building near the Citadel the high point in Ankara. I was here this week visiting a school. The weather was perfect and the company was great. Thanks Ross and Sarah. 

I drew this sketch on the flight from Munich to the US. This photo was taken with my iPhone. I used the iPhone version to draw the photo.

Basel Muenster Sketch

This was a special day for me. I had just lead a tour of the cathedral earlier this day to 20-some ICEC delegates. It was so great to be back in Switzerland. Bow unstrung. 

Tree wrapped in straw

I was recently in Korea to participate in a conference for Korean teachers. Great time. While there I found a moment to make a sketch of a tree that was wrapped in straw! I was told the straw helps the tree survive the long winter. Seems like a lot of work, but it sure looked cool. 

Sketching in Nigeria

During a break while visiting Hillcrest School in Jos, Nigeria I found a chance to sketch. I couldn't resist the beautiful Flame Tree on campus. Too bad it wasn't in bloom when I was there. 

Prague Charles Bridge Sketch

When you are in Prague there are simply too many good things to sketch. It was very cold so I had to sketch outside fast and then do the ink later. 

Building Things

Our master bathroom did not come with a door on the entry (who in the world thought this was a good idea?) so I finally found the time to put a door in myself. I found this project to be a very good way to Unstring the Bow. Like sketching, building stuff is good therapy.
