Quiet reading this morning
- "...the basic premise of religion - that if you live a good life, things will go well for you - is wrong. Jesus was the most morally upright person who ever lived, yet he had a life filled with the experience of poverty, rejection, injustice, and even torture."
- "The Christian gospel is that I am so flawed that Jesus had to die for me, yet I am so loved and valued and that Jesus was glad to die for me."
- "All other major faiths have founders who are teachers that show the way to salvation. Only Jesus claimed to actually be the way of salvation himself."
Various quotes from The Reason for God, Timothy Keller.

Swiss Alps
This drawing is from a photo that I took while in Switzerland. I did something unusual with this drawing that I have never done before. I used a technique known as "Stipling" or "Pointillism", which means the drawing is done using nothing but dots. Yes, it's true. Check it out, click on the picture to see an enlargement. I really like the smooth effect you can achieve with dots.

This is a very famous line of mountains whose names are the Eiger (the Ogre), the Moench (the Monk), and the Jungfrau (the Young Woman)- together they are known as the "Top of Europe". Our God is a great God.

Frutigen, Switzerland
I have to admit that I really enjoyed drawing this one. I was kinda sad when I finished it. This one is special to me because of the location.
Frutigen is where my grandmother was born and raised. She very likely attended services in this church. She left Frutigen for America when she was 21 years of age and never returned. Growing up in Ohio I saw lots of old pictures of this church and town and dreamed of one day visiting this place. Now I can say that I have been there many many times. I never tire of this place. How could Grandma leave this amazing place in the alps?
Original size: 21x20cm, 8.25x8.0 in.
Pen: Rotring rapidographs various size nibs.

Walking is good for you
Sandee and me hiking in Adelboden, Switzerland on our 20th anniversary.
"A vigorous five-mile walk will do more good for an unhappy but otherwise healthy adult than all the medicine and psychology in the world." ~Paul Dudley White
"I have two doctors, my left leg and my right." ~G.M. Trevelyan
"People say that losing weight is no walk in the park. When I hear that I think, yeah, that's the problem." ~Chris Adams

Adelboden, Switzerland
I drew this back in 2002. This town is probably my favorite place in the world.

This drawing was quite an undertaking and took a long time, but I was very pleased with the results. Double click on it to take a look at the MANY swiss chalets I had to draw. I had some high quality copies made and have given signed copies to friends as gifts many times.
This view is from the front entry to Pension Hari, a hotel we have visited many times. This village means a lot to us, because this is the town where I asked Sandee to marry me.
Original size: 28x22cm, 11"x8.5"
Pen: Rapidograph .25
