Building Things

Our master bathroom did not come with a door on the entry (who in the world thought this was a good idea?) so I finally found the time to put a door in myself. I found this project to be a very good way to Unstring the Bow. Like sketching, building stuff is good therapy.
The original opening....
Cutting out the arch...
Admiring the final product...
Feels good. Feels real good.

  1. Hello! I'm so glad I found finally how to make a door instead of that arch! All genius thoughts are simple- you just need to cut it out! Can you tell me please where did you buy this tall door ( i have identical arch and doors to yours)?
    Thank you

    1. Dear EM,
Thank you for the compliment. Regarding the door...I first went to Lowes, found it in the store, but had to order the correct size online. You can find it there no problem, but was very expensive and took about six weeks for it to finally get to my house!! I was not happy about that. In the meantime, I did some further shopping and found a local building supply company that got the door for me at half the price of Lowes and in only a few days - and no shipping costs. When the Lowes door finally arrived at my house I took it to my local store and they refunded me - price and shipping. I live in Colorado.

  2. Thank you for your advice to check my local Sacramento companies before going to Lowes :-) ! In my case I will definitely need custom door (at least 90"H, and my arch is 1f Deep). I also don't get the concept of doorless masterbath! I even think of removing that double sinks countertop, I would rather have a good sized makeup vanity table/dresser instead of second sink. But its going to be my second project after I'll put the door in that arch!

    1. EM, I hope you find the right door. Doorless masterbath is NUTS. At least for us. I get up early every morning and do not want to disturb my wife's. Besides the view of me brushing my teeth and scratching various man-parts in the morning has to be a total turn off. :-) Who in the world thought doorless was a good way to go?
